2) CABLE SYSTEM – CONVENTIONAL LIGHTNING PROTECTION (CABLE/ADHESIVE SYSTEM)

The benefits of using Fixed Air Terminals & Adhesive Cable Fixings

  • Air Terminal Base is similar in cost to a mechanically fixed base
  • Downconductor clip is considerably cheaper per unit than mechanically fixed clip
  • Readily available
  • Quick to install – Labour costs are lower due to the fast method of installation
  • No penetration of roof/building surface necessary
  • No drilling or screwing required
  • No mains powered or battery operated tools required

One of the biggest advantages of using this cable is the time saved on installation, due to its ease of handling when compared to normal copper/aluminium tapes. Another major benefit of using this cable is that it provides options with respect to the finial bases and tape fixings – the installer may fix them to the structure using adhesive rather than mechanical fixings and drilling. This results in a time saving for the installer, no penetrations of roof areas and a reduction in the overall cost of the lightning protection system.
